Selecting the President overview/story - test

This page is intended to develop the narrative about the search process and the president-elect; it will be published on announcement day. Content from the current search subpages (ex., presidential profile) can be seamlessly integrated into this page prior to the beginning of the first semester, allowing the site to reflect/focus on the new president while also touching on the journey to selecting him/her. This will also allow us to eventually unpublish the search subpages without losing that information.

Selecting the Next President of Temple University

On Month Day, 2024, Temple announced that First Name Last Name had been selected as the Xth president of the university. The process for selecting President-elect Last Name began in September 2023, when Board of Trustees Chair Mitchell Morgan announced the launch, members of the Presidential Search Advisory Board, and how the search would prioritize community engagement and participation to help determine what is critical to successfully leading the university.

The Search Advisory Committee partnered with The Collective Genius, a research and strategy firm, to hold in-person and virtual listening sessions open to Temple students, faculty and staff. These sessions led to a deep understanding of our community's pride in Temple, what characteristics a future leader must have, and what opportunities and challenges are present. This feedback, in addition to feedback from a universitywide survey and collaboration with leadership advisor firm Spencer Stuart, helped inform the position specification, which detailed the primary experience and critical leadership capabilities the ideal candidate would have.

Engaging more broadly and intensively with Temple community members allowed for diverse perspectives that directly impacted the priorities set and the position description used to recruit the next president.
